What of Nature’s Entertainment?
I love this time of year
I’ve noticed a recurrent theme
Every July we get the same thing
Where lightning bugs
Little love bugs
Dance to their silent music
And act as strobe lights
Most of their flashes are green
But some are orange or purple
I wonder what music they
Are listening to?
As they certainly know
How to dance and move
Of course lighting bugs
Are friends with little pixies
And play tricksies
On our eyes
I’m curious if they are edible?
They’d glow nicely in a salad
And to honor those
Little love bugs
I heard a rumor
From nature the
Other night
The other night
As I was walking the streets
Late into darkness
A mass of booming
From fireworks
From afar
Were echoing off of
The sidewalks and
Brick buildings
The banging would
Ricochet and reverberate
And make the concrete quake
A few days before the fourth
Thunder had its best
That was a blast
I always thrive in such a sight
As thunder above
I can imagine
Being at a rock concert
With speakers blaring
At my chest
The boom boom
Made my heart ache and throb
But thunder is a different
Kind of music
As I like to imagine
Dragons living
In the sky
High and divine
Wreaking havoc
On their people
What’s better
Is one of those lightning bolts
Was golden
I’ve never seen that before
What of nature’s entertainment?
I’d give her a standing ovation
Clap your hands with me
If you conquer!
As nature has a theme here
An etheric vibration
Where the beautiful
Are both profound
And of subtle natures
So thank you
Mother Nature
For your show
